Myths About Green Living Need To Be Explained

By Johnny Ferrer

Because green living is a relatively new idea, there are numerous myths that exist about what precisely it involves. Green living is a lot more than just owning a fuel efficient vehicle or buying organic food. Myths started about living green, and it would be a good idea to get them sorted out. It is a misbelief that planting some trees will diminish global warming. This information is false when you're talking about cold climate places. Areas of the globe that are farther north make the earth warmer by planting more trees. To make planting trees a benefit, then you need to plant them in citified regions. This helps the environment greatly because the trees help to cleanse the polluted air.

In addition, it's pretty common to hear the myth that it is better for our planet to stop using plastic bags and use paper bags instead. The truth is that neither is good when we talk about carbon dioxide emissions. They both induce carbon emissions when making them, and also when getting rid of them. Even though paper is not the best alternative, bags made of plastic meterial are a complete disaster. It's best to to buy a reusable bag which can be used again and again. The best and most efficient of these bags are bags made of cloth.

Another myth you may hear is that if you can choose, you should drive rather than travel by plane to your location. The only time that it is truly better to drive is your car is fuel efficient. The best thing you can do is to drive less often and share rides with other people whenever possible. Doing things that lower the number of miles driven by men aned women worldwide is a great help. Still another green living myth is that buying your food locally is best. What is important in buying any food comes down to how it is grown. To be truly green, the food must be organic. Just because food is locally farmed does not imply that it is organic. So, the way to ascertain a food's value is to research the farming method used.

The last myth states that electric-powered cars are kind to the earth. This is certainly not the case when the electricity is coming rom coal-powered electric plants. Electric-powere cars will be beneficial for the earth when the electricity is produced by renewable sources of energy. Majority of the myths surrounding green living are just myths because they don't take the whole story into consideration.

Green living is a great way to live. Green living is more beneficial when you are doing it right. You can do so much more for the earth when you do things that will genuinely help to make it better.
